The uppermost horny layer is removed, skin structure improves and the complexion becomes smoother and clearer.

Two routes

First, as an upgrade: in many of our treatments we replace the enzyme peel with a high-grade AHA fruit-acid peel for a surcharge. Second, as a standalone special treatment with products developed for it.

Qualification

The 50–70% AHA peel is not sold over the counter and may only be applied by trained professionals. That additional qualification is standard here.

Special treatment procedure

It commonly appears in women from around 30 — less often in men. The cause is a constitutional weakness of the connective tissue.

What we do

We use highly effective cosmetics developed specifically for couperose. They strengthen the sensitive capillaries, prevent redness, provide moisture and protect the skin's immune system. Particularly recommended in the cold, damp season.

You lie face down first; back, neck and upper and lower legs are massaged. After about 15 minutes your therapist asks you to turn over; the arms, hands and the front of the legs follow. The active part ends after about 25 minutes, followed by a five-minute rest.

You lie face down; back, neck and shoulders are massaged for about 25 minutes, with your therapist working specifically on the pain points you have named. A five-minute rest follows.

Procedure

Your therapist uses fragrant, warm massage oil, combining the effect of the essential oils with a classic full-body massage. Face down first, always working upwards; face up after about 15 minutes. The scents work not only on the skin but potentially on mind and mood as well.

Background

Lomi Lomi Nui comes from traditional Hawaiian healing. "Lomi" means to rub, knead or press; "Nui" means great, significant, unique. It has more the character of therapeutic bodywork than of massage, and addresses not only the body but the mind.

Technique

Plenty of oil is used, and the therapist works not only with the hands but with the whole forearms and elbows, in flowing, gently rocking movements. The intensity varies: sometimes soft and calming, sometimes demanding, in order to release deep-seated blockages. In the view of Hawaiian shamans the back is the place of the past — that is where the massage begins.

In foot reflexology, pressure is applied to specific zones using particular techniques. William Fitzgerald divided the body into 10 longitudinal zones; three transverse zones were added later. Parts of the body within one zone are directly connected: tension in one place can cause discomfort elsewhere — and can be released again through targeted work on the corresponding reflex points.

A natural method of relaxation and general health care. It can relieve pain, reduce stress and help with overexertion, and it releases endorphins.

We expose them daily to weather, detergent and everything else without giving it much thought. Give them a break now and then: nails and cuticles back in shape, and tendons, joints and muscles loosened by a closing hand massage.

The pressure equalisation created in the ear, forehead and sinus area is experienced as a kind of release.

Materials

The candles use only high-purity beeswax, honey extracts and herbs — among them sage, St John's wort and camomile. The aromas are composed according to the principle of yin and yang.

How it works

Ear candles work purely physically: a light negative pressure combined with vibration waves from the flame, acting like a gentle eardrum massage. An intense feeling of pleasant warmth spreads, and throughout the application a relaxation sets in that reaches the whole body.
